The Wing Tyun Martial Arts Academy
At the age of 10, Mik Lane began
his Martial Arts training with Shotokan Karate, and then
continued training in a wide variety of other Martial Arts
systems, including Lau Gar Kung Fu, Kick Boxing, Tae Kwon Do,
Aikido, Thai Boxing, Ju Jitsu, Atemi Jutsu and Boxing.
Always searching, but never quite finding the system he was
looking for, Sifu Mik finally discovered Wing Tyun; a Martial
Art that offers the right combination of 'hard' and 'soft'
techniques, to produce maximum effect with minimum effort.
Originally taught in Germany in the Leung Ting 'Wing Tsun'
system, Sifu Mik has now been teaching in the UK since 1995.
The 'Wing Tyun Kung-Fu Organisation' was formed by Sifu Mik Lane
in 2003 and is part of the 'World Martial Arts Alliance.'
2008 is a landmark year for Sifu Mik Lane, as he has realised
his ambition of opening the 'Wing Tyun Martial Arts Academy',
a dedicated training centre in Walsall. Converted from a former
Leather factory it comprises of a large training hall with
wooden floor; equipped with Wooden Dummy, Punch bags & Wall
bags, an office and reception area, and a separate facility
containing cardio-vascular equipment in the old stables.
The Stafford Club is run by Si-hing Mike Gorton who was one of
the first students of Sifu Mik Lane. Now an authorised
WTKO Academy instructor, Mike holds the rank of 2nd level Technician grade.
